How to create real self-awareness and the knowledge it takes to get there.

If we don’t know who we are we become like the nutshell in a stormy sea being thrown left and right according to the weather and tides. Worst case it sinks. An amazing life waits on the other side of pain, confusion, hurt, and darkness if we are brave enough to go on the adventure of a lifetime - creating awareness about who we really are to our core.

Here are real and practical steps to help you get some really solid ground under your feet:

1. Take this free personality test: 16personalities.com

2. Write down what made you truly happy as a kid. Chances are, the core essence of who you are hasn’t changed much into adulthood.

We all have our unique likes and things that we are naturally good at without any effort.

Remember them and write them down.

3. Physically, we are not all designed to hit the gym and work out like crazy, have 6 packs and get up at 4 am.

Think when you feel the most comfortable and healthy in your body and what leads up to that. Then do more of it. If this is a walk in the park, playing with your kids, or any other activities that involve movement and an increased heart rate, do that.

Consistently 10 - 15 min a day is way more effective than an hour in the gym twice a week!

4. We are what we eat. Eat lousy and you will feel, think, and look lousy. Do a thorough medical check up.

If you want or need to go deep get tested by specialists - an endocrinologist will assess your blood in detail, if there is something off or out of balance, they will know exactly which doctor or treatment to refer you to. You can test allergies (for life) and food intolerances (can improve with changed nutrition) to get clarity on what to avoid.

These things are on the rise, because our food is less and less natural. Our bodies are not designed to absorb a ton of additives, colorants, sugars, and chemicals in our nutrition.

Choose food that is healthy for YOU. You will literally see the effects in mind, body, and soul, because you’ll feel better.

A simple rule of thumb: vegetables, salads, 1 (cup of) fruit a day, chicken, meat, fish, and plenty of water is all we really need.

Cut out the processed food (which nowadays is >90% in supermarkets) - this includes soda pops and anything industrially packaged really - go to markets instead - if you can.

It is cheaper and a lot fresher and often healthier with less storage and transportation time, preservatives, colorants, chemicals, and other stuff in your food that is not supposed to be there in the first place.

Normal room temperature water is the best fluid one can drink. Anything else often has negative impacts on our body, be aware of the quantity - goes for tea, coffee, juices, wine (one cup/ glass a day).

Change the way you eat, change the way you are.

5. Sleep - strive to get good quality sleep at reasonable bedtimes in a quiet, dark, and peaceful room without electronics in it. If it has, unplug them overnight.

6. Write every morning your BEST possible outcomes on a piece of paper. Do not! censor yourself in your head (you will) - write it down anyways.

If you can’t even take the action of putting it down on paper (NOT on the hand phone or computer), how will it happen in your life ?

Do this for a month and see what happens :)

7. Know and realize that 98% of what people say and how they react to you is based on THEIR own mindset, trauma, triggers, and perceptions.

Knowing this, observing your environment and knowing who you are helps in taking things with a grain of salt.

Adopt what moves you forward in a positive way, ignore and stay away from the rest.

8. Do a free proven IQ test to have a solid understanding of where you are at.

Feeling different from most? This is probably because you ARE!

There are plenty of tests for all sorts of things: color differentiation, vision, hearing range, vocal range, sensitivities and more.

Further, the next point is crucial to get to know yourself better:

Research your family history back to your great-grandparents on both sides, mum and dad, if you can. When and how lived your ancestors, how and under what circumstances did they pass away?

How many kids did they have?

Were they married, divorced, widowed, or single?

What was out of the ordinary in their life?

Strive to discover patterns, the good and the ugly.

Miscarriages, adoptions, emigration, becoming a priest or nun or equivalent, illnesses, victimhood's, murders, sexual orientations, divorce, suicides, bankruptcy, and many more - the secrets in the closet.

Dig them out if you can (needs persistence) because they subconsciously steer the trajectory in life, often over generations, right up to you!

To learn more you can read this book:

11. Then you can dive in further, working with a professional therapist on your suppressed trauma and triggers (everyone has them), to become aware of your subconscious programming and blueprint your received in earliest childhood.

They all steer the majority of our actions - unless we make a conscious effort to override them which can’t be learned without the help of a professional psychologist and/ or trauma therapist.

We don’t know and can’t change what we don’t know.

A fish in an aquarium can’t clean out its own water tank. Our psychology works the same.

We need a professional person who is qualified, experienced, and knows what they are doing if we want to be serious about creating REAL self-awareness.

‘Happy-clappy’ courses, seminars, and weekend workshops are helpful but won’t cut it, and you might disagree, yet it is what it is.

To re-engineer the brain takes tremendous knowledge and skills in how to do this for a solid long term effect so we don’t snap back into the same blueprint behavior - we can only do this through awareness and it needs an accountability partner outside of our circles and systems, anyone else is biased.

Hard work, often painful, yet if you are committed to the process, the results are well worth it.

12. A lot of work to do: are you highly sensitive or do you lack empathy, what are your character traits, etc

There are tests and assessments for this. You can do a professional psychological assessment (psyche) or a psychiatric assessment (brain) when in doubt.

Dig deep.

We are only able to become as self-aware as we are courageous enough to face the truth about who we really are and how we function without running away from ourselves and the truth.

Truth sets you free, the full acceptance of what is and was,

to consciously navigate the waters of life and steer your boat in the right direction,

as with real awareness,

you now are the captain of your own ship and the sky becomes the limit.
